The Chelsea boot, with its distinctive elastic side panel and ankle-high design, has a rich history that dates back to the Victorian era. It was initially designed by J. Sparkes-Hall, the shoemaker for Queen Victoria in 1851, and was originally intended for riding. The key feature of the boot was the elastic gusset on the side, which made it easy to put on and take off – a significant innovation at the time. Sparkes-Hall claimed that Queen Victoria wore these boots daily, which contributed to their initial popularity.
The name “Chelsea” comes from the Chelsea area in London, where during the 1950s and 60s, the boots became enormously popular among the bohemians, artists, and socialites frequenting the city’s Chelsea district.
In the 1960s, the boot was further popularised by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones who wore custom versions with higher heels and pointed toes, known colloquially as “Beatle boots.” This association with rock and roll elevated the Chelsea boot to a fashion staple.
Today, Chelsea boots are celebrated for their versatility and timeless appeal. They have transcended their utilitarian roots to become a staple in both men’s and women’s fashion, lauded for their ability to shift from formal to casual settings seamlessly. We’ve long admired the stylish, simple, and functional design of the Chelsea Boot. Building on the success of our original Trailback Crofty boot introduced in 2018, we’re excited to expand our collection with the addition of our own Chelsea Boot, named ‘Pendeen’.
Available in both classic Black and rich Brown, the Pendeen has quickly become a favorite among our customers.

Constructed from 2.4mm high-grade leather, the Pendeen offers unmatched protection against the elements. This thick, carefully selected leather not only shields against water but also stands up to the wear and tear of adventurous lifestyles.
To further enhance its durability, each boot is meticulously triple-stitched. This reinforces the boot’s structure, providing an extra layer of resilience and extending its lifespan. The attention to detail in the stitching also adds a touch of rugged elegance to its overall aesthetic, striking a perfect balance between toughness and style.
Inside, the Pendeen is equipped with a cork footbed, an outstanding feature for insulation. This natural material not only retains warmth, keeping your feet cosy in cooler conditions, but also adds a layer of cushioning that molds to the shape of your foot.
